Riverside High School Vision/Mission Statement
The Riverside High School family, consisting of students, teachers, parents, and
community members, will provide a safe learning environment in which all students
make continuous academic, social, emotional, and developmental progress. Each student
will be valued as an individual with the opportunity and responsibility to identify and
pursue her or his individual abilities, interests, and goals.
The overarching goal for each student is to earn a graduating diploma which signifies she
or he has successfully completed the rigorous curriculum set forth by the Riverside
Faculty, Durham Public Schools, and the North Carolina Department of Public
Instruction. This curriculum has been designed to develop within each student the ability
to think and read critically, write effectively, problem solve, utilize current and future
technologies, conduct research, and function as a productive and responsible member
within our 21st century society.
Our mission is to afford each student the opportunity and means needed to acquire the
skills she or he desires to successfully transition into adulthood with a strong emphasis on
each student successfully pursing post-secondary education.
