School's nominees represent key qualities PDF Print E-mail

The school's nominees for the University of North Carolina's Morehead-Cain Scholarship and NC State's Park Scholarship have been announced.
The Morehead nominees are seniors Alix Wicker, Jamie Williams, and Stephen Freeman. Park nominees are seniors Bethany Goodfred and Catherine Venable.
"I was pretty excited when I found out I was nominated," Wicker said. "One of the Park nominees, Catherine Venable, was sitting next to me when we found out, so we kind of celebrated together."

Despite being for different universities, the Morehead and Park scholarships are very similar. They both provide full tuition, room and board, books and supplies, and money for traveling abroad to each recipient. Both are very prestigious awards that identify a student both as a scholar and as a leader.
According to the Morehead website, integrity, empathy, bravery, humility, maturity, and generosity make up the bedrock of the Morehead-Cain culture.
"To be nominated by the school is a huge honor," Wicker said.
Nominees will be interviewed in the final round of the process, and finalists will be chosen Jan. 22.
