People of the World club members plan to bring out their inner child and help the community by participating in Halloween this year.
"We dress up, and trick or treat for cans," senior Dana Mustafa said. Improving the Durham community is just one of many goals the People of the World club reach for every year. To achieve this goal members will be asking for cans instead of candy on Halloween night in the Hardscrabble Plantation neighborhood. The club expects up to 200 lbs of can foods to match the previous years. The cans will be donated to food drives around Durham.
Although the clubs main goal is to benefit others, a popular feature of the club is to have a good time while doing achieving this goal. "I'm looking forward to hanging with my friends, and collecting cans," Senior Randi Lee said. Eight People of the World club members are committed to collecting cans on Halloween.
Members of the People of the World club meet once a week in the school library during lunch to plan for future events. The club already holds events such as the 5v5 soccer tournament once a year at school, and partakes in volunteer reading to elementary students.
