Kendra O’Neal-Williams began her first week as the fourth assistant principal on Monday.
Students remember O’Neal-Williams from her teaching days at Eno Valley elementary and Carrington middle school.
“ I used to get into trouble everyday, but she was always patient with me,” sophomore Thomas Anderson said.
Even though it is O’Neal-Williams’ first time working Riverside, it is not her first time working with Principal Jim Key.
“He was the first principal I ever had, I just knew it would be a joy to work with him again,” O’Neal-Williams said.
Many do not know that this is not the first O’Neal that has walked the halls of our school. “My father started his career as an administrator here,” O’Neal-Williams said.

The Botany class is wrapping up the first phase of the Linny Wrenn
Stadium beautification project.
We have finished the "RHS" on the south side of the stadium, planted in
a gold-tipped holly that will fill in and become quite beautiful over
the years. Spring/summer growth is bright yellow, turning emerald green
in the fall.
We will complete the plant beds around the flagpole and the Riverside
Rock this semester.
Our class project on the west side of the campus will begin early in the
2nd quarter.
All students are part of smaller group projects that will be completed
by the end of the semester.

Submitted by Montina Swift, Family to Family Coordinator, Durham Department of Social Services
Several months ago, I received an email from a person wanting to give
to the youth that are in foster care. She expressed an interest in
making travel bags for them. She wanted to know if I thought this was
a great idea. I informed her that it was more than great. I explained
to her that some of the youth didn’t have travel bags and they would be
very appreciative. She stated that she would work on them and get back
with me when they were ready. She sent me some fabric samples that I
thought were great. I did suggest that she try to find something for
the male population as they probably wouldn’t want to carry a bag with
flowers on it.
